I have the Greek hardback 1963 version of  it  and also borrowed it on audiobook read by Donald Sutherland. in short my opinion is: HOLY FUCK THIS WAS A DRAG. Even Donald Fucking Sutherland was bored when he was narrating!

I know I've been staying away from Classic literature for a reason. This was a bunch of pretentious shit. I wrote fanfics less boring than this and I can't write to save my life! Holy shit, seriously almost a hundred pages to get a fucking fish and in the end the sharks ate it?

Just eat the sardines instead of wasting them as bait. SHEESH! In the beginning I was interested to see how this would excel but after he caught the fish and it started dragging him away I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Seriously this has won a nobel prize? This? I get it that it has influenced many people and yadda yadda blah blah but holy cow this was so boring I could count the lint motes gathering in my belly button.

Ugh.
